Introducing Academic Display Style

No two libraries are alike. A public library and a research university have different patrons, different priorities, and a very different sense of what “useful” looks like on a catalog page. So why should their Syndetics Unbound experience look identical?

We’re excited to announce a new display customization feature for Syndetics Unbound that lets you choose how each enrichment appears to your patrons.

Two display styles, built for different needs:

• Standard — a visually rich, image-forward layout designed for browsing and discovery.
• Academic — a text-forward layout designed for research and scholarship.

You can set the display style for each enrichment element independently, mixing and matching as you like, or apply one style globally to all enrichments.

Some Syndetics Unbound elements, like Summary, Look Inside, Awards and Honors, and Book Profile, are already primarily displayed as text, so they remain the same in both display styles.

These screenshots show the difference between standard and academic displays for a few enrichment elements.

Getting started

Display style customization is available now. Navigate to Catalog Enrichments > Display Style in the Syndetics Unbound Admin and you’ll find the new options waiting for you. Changes take effect immediately.
