Here are the top twenty titles US public library patrons looked for in April 2026.

  • Project Hail Mary by Andy Weir topped the chart, mirroring the continued success of the film, starring Ryan Gosling, which opened March 20. The Correspondent by Virginia Evans slipped to #2 after three straight months at the top.
  • Fully seven of the top thirteen titles are new this month. Four are from established names: Hope Rises by David Baldacci (#5), The Night We Met by Abby Jimenez (#6), The Keeper by Tana French (#9), and Judge Stone by James Patterson (#10).
  • Yesteryear by Caro Claire Burke, a debut novel about a tradwife influencer who wakes up in 1805, charged in at #3. It was a Good Morning America Book Club pick.
  • Strangers: A Memoir of Marriage by Belle Burden debuted at #7. Burden’s memoir, expanded from her 2023 New York Times “Modern Love” column about her marriage’s collapse during COVID, topped the bestseller lists in January and was recently featured on the Oprah Podcast. Netflix has acquired film rights, with Gwyneth Paltrow attached to star and executive produce.
  • Remarkably Bright Creatures by Shelby Van Pelt held at #11. A Netflix film starring Sally Field and Lewis Pullman is due May 8.
