Here are the top twenty titles US public library patrons looked for in April 2026.
Project Hail Mary by Andy Weir topped the chart, mirroring the
continued success of the film, starring Ryan Gosling, which opened
March 20. The Correspondent by Virginia Evans slipped to #2 after
three straight months at the top.
Fully seven of the top thirteen titles are new this month. Four are
from established names: Hope Rises by David Baldacci (#5), The
Night We Met by Abby Jimenez (#6), The Keeper by Tana French
(#9), and Judge Stone by James Patterson (#10).
Yesteryear by Caro Claire Burke, a debut novel about a tradwife
influencer who wakes up in 1805, charged in at #3. It was a Good
Morning America Book Club pick.
Strangers: A Memoir of Marriage by Belle Burden debuted at #7.
Burden’s memoir, expanded from her 2023 New York Times “Modern Love”
column about her marriage’s collapse during COVID, topped the
bestseller lists in January and was recently featured on the Oprah
Podcast. Netflix has acquired film rights, with Gwyneth Paltrow
attached to star and executive produce.
Remarkably Bright Creatures by Shelby Van Pelt held at #11. A
Netflix film starring Sally Field and Lewis Pullman is due May 8.
