We’re excited to announce an update to our Reader Reviews enrichment element!
Libraries can now connect their Librarian Recommends account to write reviews directly in the catalog. When staff sign in with their Librarian Recommends credentials, their reviews are automatically featured at the top and clearly identified as “Staff Reviews” — helping your expert recommendations stand out.
The Reader Reviews interface has been redesigned and modernized. We’ve added the ability to filter reviews by rating, so you can read just the 5-star reviews–or just the 1-star ones! We’ve also added a spoiler feature that hides reviews designated as containing spoilers behind a “click to see” prompt. In addition, Reader Reviews has been optimized for mobile devices, making it easier for all patrons to read and contribute reviews.
Reader Reviews brings authentic reader voices into your catalog, allowing library users to share their opinions and recommendations with fellow readers. This helps patrons make more confident borrowing decisions, increases engagement with your collection, and creates a sense of community around your library’s materials. Whether it’s a hidden gem in your collection or a popular bestseller, reader perspectives add valuable context when choosing your next book.
Patron-submitted reviews require moderation before appearing publicly in your catalog (staff reviews do not!). Find reviews awaiting moderation under the Content Moderation button in your Syndetics Unbound admin site. Enable “Receive daily review moderation emails” in your Syndetics Unbound admin user settings to get alerts when new reviews need attention.
